EXPUNGING & SEALING

In Florida, expunging or sealing a criminal record is the process by which a former defendant or arrestee, upon meeting specified eligibility requirements, destroys their criminal history record (expunction) or eliminates access to the record (sealing) by way of court order. Florida law permits the sealing or expunging of only one criminal history in a lifetime. For persons who have multiple arrests or cases, this means that only one of the records will be affected by a sealing or expunction order (assuming all eligibility requirements are met).
